03/30/04 Saludos y Bendiciones a todos. I wanted to share my appreciation with all the people who have visited the Carrera’s Website, along with all of the other websites from “Nuestros Pueblos and Nuestra Gente” and for the extremely motivating comments that you have given us. I, personally, have gotten mixed reviews on the project, but for the most part, they have been positive and encouraging. (Please read the story below which explains my feelings about people’s criticisms).

Many of our neighbors from Presidios, La Purisima, Los Herreras and many others, over the course of time, have developed extremely complicated websites, which set forth and give testimony of their passion for their hometowns. Hundreds of hours of work easily accumulate by collecting many photographs, interviewing people, and learning the programs in order to design web pages. Building, designing, maintaining web pages and answering Emails is a complicated task, which has its reward when you find people that share the same spirit and appreciate the complexity of the work. Said in other words, these projects are a labor of love. Id like to commend the people from La Purisima for their outstanding effort demonstrated by the accomplishment of installing a webcam in la Plaza de Tepehuanes, as well as all the other webmasters that have given a voice to our pueblos. We have stories to tell, and our stories must be told.

I am sincerely grateful and full of appreciation for your web pages. La puri.com, along with the other websites from El Rincon, Presidios, and Los Herreras motivated me to endeavor to create a page for my hometown of Carreras. We have taken different paths on designing our websites, but I believe we have similar purposes. Technology is bringing people together and it is bridging the gaps created by space and time. The objective of the Carreras website is to create “Un Puente de reflexion y comunacion” among those people that have a distinct intuition of the fundamental importance of our history, of the wisdom of our abuelos, which far from being over, it manifest itself through us. So in the same spirit, I invite all visitors to help us to maintain alive our history, traditions, memories, knowledge, wisdom, and customs.
